Celtics Reportedly Sign Former UCF Giant Tacko Fall to Exhibit 10 Contract
By Michael Luciano
Just because former UCF star and 7-6 goliath Tacko Fall went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft doesn't mean that his basketball career is over.
The 7-6, 310 pound center originally from Senegal signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Boston Celtics, giving him a shot to make more of a name for himself this summer.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year deal worth the minimum salary that guarantees the player will receive a cap invite. He can either have his Exhibit 10 converted into a two-way contract, or will be waived and offered $50,000 to sign with the G League affiliate of whomever waved them. It was created to incentivize players to stay in the G League as opposed to going abroad.
Fall averaged 11.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks last year on a UCF team that was one ill-fated bounce away from beating Duke in the NCAA Tournament. Fall's dominance in college is attributed to his 7-6 frame and 8-0 wingspan, as his offensive game is nothing more than "catch ball and dunk ball" at this point.
However, it goes without saying that Fall, who doesn't need to jump to touch the rim, can change the game on defense.
While it would be great to see Fall make it in the pros, he has a solid fallback option. Fall had a 4.0 GPA in high school and scored in the 95th percentile on the SAT. A computer science major, Fall dreams of being an engineer for Siemans or Microsoft. Be it basketball or computers, Fall has a pretty good plan for his immediate future.
