The New York Yankees didn't initially have a scheduled starter for Tuesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays (especially as the picture became blurred following Monday night's Jonathan Holder debacle), but manager Aaron Boone has decided to maintain the opener and have Chad Green start the game.

Green was used Monday night in the series opener. He came into the ballgame in the eighth inning and allowed two hits with two strikeouts on 16 pitches in .2 innings pitched, letting Adam Ottavino record the final out of the frame on just three pitches.

Surprisingly enough, this will be the first time all season that Green has been used on back-to-back days.

After Green pitches, the expectation is that left-hander Nestor Cortes Jr. will get the ball. In seven appearances out of the Yankee pen, Cortes Jr. is 2-0 with a 4.09 ERA and 23 strikeouts over 22 innings.

Cortes Jr. last pitched against the Houston Astros the week prior, where he gave up two earned runs on dingers at the tail end of his three innings of work.

On the season, Green owns a 6.75 ERA over 24 appearances. However, in seven June appearances, the Yankee right-hander possesses a 0.90 ERA with 18 strikeouts over 10 innings.
