Arkansas Needs to Fire Chad Morris Before He Leaves the Stadium After Western Kentucky Embarrassment
By Parker White
The last Arkansas head football coach, Bret Beilema, was fired coming off the field after a home loss to the Missouri Tigers. Since the precedent has already been set, the Razorbacks should do it again with current head coach Chad Morris.
Since the Razorbacks were blown out at home Saturday by Western Kentucky, that could be in the cards.
With a loss Saturday, Morris will have a 4-18 record in less than two seasons at Arkansas, including an embarrassing 0-14 record in SEC play. While we're typically against rushed decisions involving head coaches in college football, Morris must be the exception before Arkansas sinks further into NCAA irrelevance.
That, my friend, is a fireable offense.
I'm sure the athletic department doesn't want to pay the $12 million it will cost if he's bought out before Dec. 31, but they need to suck it up, realize they made a huge mistake, and start the coaching search as soon as possible.
The likes of Memphis coach Mike Norvell won't be available forever, as Florida State (a more desirable location) are in the midst of a search of their own. Norvell is from Arkansas, and the fit makes sense despite the Razorbacks lowly status in the SEC.
I mean, they were crushed by WESTERN KENTUCKY! Enough is enough.
