Chaim Bloom Would Be Perfect GM Hire for Red Sox Transition
By Michael Luciano

After a pathetic title defense that saw them fail to even make the playoffs, it's clear the Boston Red Sox need a shot in the arm in upper management.
The club is currently searching for a GM after canning Dave Dombrowski not 12 months after he brought them a championship, and the latest whispers indicate that Tampa Bay Rays senior VP of baseball operations Chaim Bloom has emerged as the top candidate for the job, on the verge of finally getting a big-market chance.
Tampa Bay Rays VP of baseball operations Chaim Bloom has emerged as a serious candidate to become the new general manager of the Boston Red Sox, league sources tell ESPN. @chadjennings22 and @ken_rosenthal reported that he has interviewed with the team.

If he's willing to move, the Red Sox should give him a blank check, like the Mets should've done in 2018.
Bloom might only be 36 years old, but he's been with the Rays organization for 15 years, and has served as either the director of or vice president of baseball operations with the team since 2011.
Under Bloom's analytics-heavy style of decision-making, Tampa Bay has won 80 or more games in seven of his nine seasons while making the playoffs three times. In most of those seasons, the Rays have had the lowest or one of the lowest payrolls in all of baseball.
Red Sox GM search has been quiet, but seems to be coming to an end. @Ken_Rosenthal and I are reporting that Rays vice president of baseball ops Chaim Bloom is among those who interviewed for the job.

Canning the old-school Dombrowski and replacing him with Bloom is a massive change in philosophy, but an aging Red Sox team could use a fresh face making decisions up top, and Bloom would be nothing short of a home run hire, especially with a laundry list of key decisions on the immediate horizon.
