Chargers RB Melvin Gordon Has No Plans of Reporting for Week 1
By Parker White

Melvin Gordon has made one thing very clear: He won't play for the Los Angeles Chargers this season unless he gets a new deal.
We are now less than a week away from the first game of the 2019 season, and according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Gordon has no plans on reporting for Week 1.
Barring a sudden development, #Chargers RB Melvin Gordon does not plan to report for Week 1, per @JFowlerESPN. Gordon's camp is still sorting through potential trade options. GM Tom Telesco said yesterday that extension talks have been postponed until after the season.

Gordon's representation is still sorting through potential trade options, and according to Chargers GM Tom Telesco, extension talks have been postponed until after the upcoming season.
So, it appears that Gordon will only play this year if he's traded and won't talk about an extension with the Chargers until after the season.

Gordon's absence is a huge loss for this Chargers offense. In 12 games last year, the 26-year-old star ran for 885 yards on 175 rushing attempts with 10 touchdowns. It looks like Austin Ekeler will have every opportunity to be Los Angeles' starter in the backfield.
