VIDEO: Charles Barkley Reveals He's in Quarantine and Has Taken Coronavirus Test After Feeling Ill
By Karl Rasmussen
Charles Barkley is known around the NBA as being one of the biggest jokesters in the sport, frequently making waves for his comments on TNT's "Inside the NBA." Well, when it comes to his health and the current outbreak of the coronavirus, Chuck is taking things extremely seriously. The NBA star-turned-analyst revealed on Thursday that he's undergoing a self-inflicted quarantine, upon doctors recommendation, after having been sick the past few days.
"I hadn't been feeling great, and they (doctors) didn't want me to take any chances," Barkley said. "They told me to quarantine myself for 48 hours. I went and took the coronavirus test late this afternoon. I have not gotten the tests back."
Barkley mentioned he'd been in New York City earlier in the week but wasn't feeling well upon returning to Atlanta. He revealed he had been tested for COVID-19 but had yet to receive the results.
The NBA suspended play following Rudy Gobert's positive diagnosis for the highly-contagious, and team's are issuing tests for players across the league. It's good to see that Chuck was proactive after feeling under the weather, and hopefully the results of his bloodwork provide an encouraging diagnosis.
