The Chiefs Already Fleeced the 49ers in the Dee Ford Trade and We Didn't Think That Was Possible
By Michael Luciano

On the football field, it's been a rough year and a half for San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Dee Ford. After recording 13.0 sacks in 2018, he cost the Chiefs a chance to go to Super Bowl LIII after jumping offsides on a Tom Brady interception in a game the Patriots would go on to win.
Ford was soon dealt to San Francisco in exchange for a second-round pick after being franchise tagged, and the Chiefs appear to have already won the trade convincingly.

Ford signed a five-year, $85 million contract with the 49ers, though they have the ability to cut him after two years with only $4 million in dead cap. After 2019, that might be their best move.
Ford started just two games and played on just 22% of San Francisco's defensive snaps in a season marred by injury. Nick Bosa emerged as the most feared pass-rusher on that defense in Ford's stead.
With the pick the Chiefs acquired from San Francisco, they drafted Mississippi State linebacker Willie Gay Jr., a crazy athlete and speed demon for a 240-pounder who figures to compete for a starting spot at inside linebacker, a position of need.

It's unfortunate that things aren't working out for Ford in San Francisco, but at least he got himself a nice payday. A REAL nice payday.
