Chiefs Announce Patrick Mahomes Will Not Play Sunday Against Packers
By Parker White
The Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers square off on Sunday Night Football this week, but the biggest star will not be playing.
When addressing the media on Friday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that quarterback Patrick Mahomes will not take the field as he continues to recover from a knee injury.
Mahomes dislocated his knee last week against the Denver Broncos, which is expected to keep him out for several weeks despite the fact reports suggest he could return as soon as Sunday.
The star QB did practice a little this week and the team didn't rule him out, but they are doing the smart thing by sitting him, even though we'd love to see him go up against Aaron Rodgers.
The reigning NFL MVP has been spectacular this year, completing 65.1% of his passes for 2,180 yards, 15 touchdowns and just one interception.
Kansas City has to think long term. Every game matters, but Mahomes is a difference-maker and the future of this franchise. They can't rush him back, even for a primetime game against the Packers.
