Chiefs Fans Aren't Going to Like NFL Insider Peter King's Projected First-Round Draft Pick for KC
By Thomas Carannante

We've seen a number of mock drafts suggesting the Kansas City Chiefs would be looking to improve their backfield, most notably with the predicted selections of D'Andre Swift and JK Dobbins. After all, the team may have to prepare for life without Damien Williams, who will hit free agency following this season.
But NFL insider Peter King's latest mock has the Chiefs taking TCU cornerback Jeff Gladney with the No. 32 overall pick, and it's safe to say KC fans won't be thrilled with that.

But an interesting note: He’s heard they want to trade into the 20s if WR Henry Ruggs is there. ?

Yes, the Chiefs need a cornerback, but taking one from the 58th-ranked defense in the NCAA last year probably isn't the best choice, especially since TCU doesn't exactly churn out NFL-ready talent. If Gladney had an otherworldly performance at the NFL Combine, we'd understand, but a 4.48 40-yard dash, 17 bench press reps, and a 37.5 vertical jump aren't overly impressive.
With so much other talent expected to be available at No. 32, given this deep draft when it comes to offensive linemen, wide receivers, running backs and defensive linemen, perhaps the Chiefs would be better off taking a flyer on a cornerback later on.

It's no secret that predicting how these prospects' careers will pan out is far from a perfect science, but one can guess going after talents like LSU's Kristian Fulton, Alabama's Trevon Diggs, Clemson's AJ Terrell, Ohio State's Damon Arnette, and Utah's Jaylon Johnson could better suit the Chiefs. If the Chiefs need a corner, those are probably safer bets.
