3 Best Players the Chiefs Can Still Target in Free Agency

The Kansas City Chiefs have already had to swallow some tough losses in free agency, as slot cornerback Kendall Fuller has left the team to return to the Washington Redskins. Brett Veach knows that even with a roster fresh off a Super Bowl, this team has some holes in it, most notably at linebacker and in the secondary. These three free agents could be ideal additions for the Chiefs in their quest to repeat.

3. LB Josh Bynes

Bynes has bounced around the league for nearly a decade, backing up on some good teams and starting on some bad ones. He finally contributed in a meaningful way to a playoff team when he made seven starts for the 2019 Baltimore Ravens that went 14-2 in the regular season. Bynes' coverage ability and skill at stuffing the run should earn him quite a nifty contract this offseason as Kansas City looks to keep their linebacking corps strong.

2. S Karl Joseph

Joseph's Raiders career appears to be coming to a close after his injury-riddled 2019 and the selection of Johnathan Abram in the first round of that year's draft. With Joseph all but a certainty to hit the open market and command a sizable multi-year deal, Kansas City should consider meeting that price. A versatile safety who can line up in the box and lay some lumber on a ball-carrier, Joseph could slide right in next to Tyrann Mathieu and Juan Thornhill.

1. CB Desmond Trufant

The only Trufant brother still playing, Desmond was released after seven seasons with the Atlanta Falcons following a season in which he played in only nine games. Kansas City should be all-over a guy like Trufant, as his skill and experience in man and zone concepts could help Steve Spagnuolo get more creative and varied on defense. While some think he's lost a step, Trufant remains a turnover machine, and his presence in Kansas City would be welcomed by all.
