Chiefs GM Brett Veach Clearly Hyping Late First-Round QBs to Convince Teams to Trade up
By Michael Luciano

The Kansas City Chiefs are totally set at quarterback for the foreseeable future with the all-world Patrick Mahomes, but Brett Veach is still taking a gander at some of the better quarterback prospects.
The Super Bowl champs' general manager asserted that he thinks Utah State quarterback Jordan Love is worthy of a first-round pick. Loud and clear, it's a blatant attempt to get a rival team to offer the Chiefs a few extra picks in exchange for Kansas City's first-round selection.
Or he clearly hopes someone else will view Love as a first-round QB and will make the Chiefs an offer for pick No. 32 in order to get him. https://t.co/LAm5fp6Mw9

The Chiefs own the No. 32 overall pick in the draft, but they have just four other picks, and they will need plenty of draft capital if they want to replace some big names on cheaper contracts and keep the championship wheels turning for years to come.
If Veach wants to trade back, it could be a major change from what the latest rumors suggested -- that the Chiefs were looking to use their limited amount of picks to select Alabama speed demon Henry Ruggs III.
As fun as that would be, moving up for Ruggs isn't the most practical option in the world.

If a quarterback-needy team still hasn't found their next franchise guy, Kansas City has shown they are more than willing to surrender their first-round pick if it means that they can stock up on Day 2 selections. Keep an eye on this scenario if an when Love is still on the board at the back of the opening round.
