Chiefs Lose CB Kendall Fuller to Thumb Injury
By Karl Rasmussen
The Kansas City Chiefs' porous secondary just took a big blow following Sunday's game.
KC will be without starting cornerback Kendall Fuller suffered what is being described as a fractured thumb in Week 6's loss to the Texans, and while he's seeking a second medical opinion, this certainly doesn't bode well for the Chiefs.
The positive news here is that Ian Rapoport described the injury as being a "slight fracture," which could signal that Fuller's stint on the sideline could be brief.
After starting 15 games last season, Fuller has only gotten the start in four of six games in 2019. He has yet to record an interception this year -- despite coming away with four in 2018 -- and has logged two passes defended, 31 tackles and a sack.
The Chiefs' defense ranks in the middle of the pack in terms of most passing categories, but the loss of Fuller could be detrimental ahead of an upcoming slate that features the Broncos, Packers and Vikings in the next three weeks.
If Fuller is sidelined, Rashad Fenton figures to be the next man up in the secondary, while Morris Claiborne could be given some snaps as well.
