We're not sure what the Kansas City Chiefs did in the offseason to upset the football gods, but it must have been significant because Andy Reid's side has suffered a plethora of injuries to key players this year.

That narrative continued during Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans, as offensive tackle Martinas Rankin was carted off the field with what was described as a knee injury.

Fast forward to Monday afternoon and the update was worse than originally feared. Rankin is believed to have suffered a season-ending injury to his patella, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Rankin will undergo an MRI Monday to confirm the severity of the injury, though the team is not optimistic.

Rankin was acquired by KC in an offseason trade that sent Carlos Hyde to the Texans. The OL has appeared in six games for the Chiefs, starting five of them, and was proving to be a viable replacement to injured Pro Bowler Eric Fisher.

This news regarding Rankin leaves KC's offensive line coach Andy Heck with his hands tied, as fellow OT Mitchell Schwartz also left the game with a knee injury and is set to undergo further tests.

It's important to note that nothing has been confirmed just yet, but all signs point to Rankin missing the rest of 2019 in what is another crucial blow for the Chiefs.
