Chiefs Need to Take Broncos Seriously as AFC West Threat After Impressive Offseason
By Michael Luciano

The Denver Broncos finished the 2019 season strong after inserting Drew Lock as the starter, ending the year with a 7-9 record. But GM John Elway clearly isn't satisfied with another year of .500 football, acting aggressively in the 2020 NFL offseason in order to restock Denver's roster.
Elway has been on fire this March. After starting out free agency by franchise tagging safety Justin Simmons, Elway beefed up the defense by trading for cornerback AJ Bouye and defensive tackle Jurrell Casey. On the offensive side of the ball, Denver signed offensive guard Graham Glasgow and former Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon.

- Franchise tagged Justin Simmons
- Trade for AJ Bouye
- Trade for Jurrell Casey
- Sign Graham Glasgow
- Sign Melvin Gordon
- Have 6 picks in first 4 rounds
Keep in mind they won 4 out of their last 5 with Drew Lock starting. A lot to be excited about.
With a promising second-year quarterback in Lock and six picks in the first four rounds, it is a good time to be a Broncos fan.
The Kansas City Chiefs are still the top dog in the AFC West, but the Broncos have pulled away from the Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders with their tremendous offseason. If they manage to hit some home runs in the draft, Denver could easily be a playoff team that does some damage in January, and will also be nipping at KC's heels in the division race.
Imagine this for a sec:

Drew Lock

Melvin Gordon
Courtland Sutton
Henry Ruggs III

The play of Lock will determine how far this roster goes, but things are certainly looking up for Denver after years of remaining stuck in the doldrums due to poor quarterback play. The Chiefs' reign atop the AFC West is a lot less secure after Elway's productive start to free agency.
