Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy Backs Sammy Watkins Despite Comments in Bleacher Report Article
By Michael Luciano

Bleacher Report's excellent feature on Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins served mostly to get across what a unique, if slightly wacky and unusual, personality and frame of mind Watkins possesses.
When the conversation did veer back to football, though, Watkins raised eyebrows by saying he wasn't thrilled with his usage last year, promising "World War III" If he doesn't get his touches. Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy took those comments in stride, claiming that Watkins is a "huge part of what he do" while praising his competitive fire.
#Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy told me that when he saw the article on Sammy Watkins from @BleacherReport, he was proud to see Watkins was so willing to allow folks in to get to know him. He reiterated that the bottom line is Watkins wants to be great.

"One thing you guys got to understand is players go through a lot of different highs and lows," Bieniemy said. "There’s a lot of pressure that players receive when playing this game outside of what we do. I’m not going to divulge on any of our conversations, but I love Sammy. I love the way he comes to work every single day."
Watkins signed a new one-year contract that frees up tons of cap space for Kansas City, which shows that he is willing and able to accept his No. 2 wide receiver role on a team capable of winning another championship.
He waged a "war" outside of football, reawakened and -- finally -- found his purpose in life. From entities to aliens to manifesting dreams into reality, there isn't anyone in the NFL quite like the Chiefs' Super Bowl hero.

What Sammy Watkins Believes:https://t.co/9Vx94ehiLr
Watkins' odd behavior is all in pursuit of winning a championship, As long as that desire burns bright, Bieniemy and Andy Reid can work around all the other nonsense.
