This Historic Patrick Mahomes Stat Proves He Could Become the Greatest QB of All Time
By Andrew Gullotta
Chiefs fans will naturally get worried if their favorite team falls behind double digits. That's a totally normal reaction. However, with Patrick Mahomes at the helm, there's rarely much reason for panic.
The Super Bowl MVP went a whopping 5-0 when trailing by 10 or more points last season, including three different times in the playoffs. This stat is just another way to exemplify how cool Mahomes is under pressure -- and what it means for his potential all-time credentials when it comes to clutch performance.
With his electric arm throwing bombs downfield, no lead is too safe when playing Kansas City. Not did the Chiefs come back in these games, but they did it at record pace: They came back from 21 down against the Texans and 10 down to the Titans before making their biggest statement against the 49ers in the Super Bowl, and they never needed much time to do it.
The ability of Mahomes and the Chiefs offense to be down but never out just shows the Texas Tech product's greatness. KC's run of comebacks is something that football fans rarely get to see. The 2018 league MVP is just that dangerous.
If Mahomes continues to be this deadly in the clutch of years to come, he will truly have a chance go down as one of the best ever to do it. In addition to the comebacks, he already has a nice collection of hardware and has thrown for 76 touchdowns in only two seasons as a starter.
It will be hard to keep this pace up for the long haul, but if Mahomes really can do it, there's no telling just how much he stands to tear up the record books.
