Patrick Mahomes Would Love to Play in 'The Match' With Phil Mickelson and We Need That Now
A unique sporting event took place last weekend in the form of "The Match." Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning teamed up against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady in a match-play event that drew record ratings at a time when live sporting events are few and far between.
The event went so well that Mickelson spoke after about how he would like to do it every year. He dropped some names of those who could take part and mentioned Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. That sure sounds like an awesome idea and Mahomes appears to be on board.
Talk about some dream matchups. Mickelson and Woods would essentially serve as team captains on an annual basis and would be joined by some of the biggest names in sports. Mahomes is also young enough to where he could become a fixture in "The Match" franchise if it continues. Just imagine the young quarterback trash-talking Woods or someone like Michael Jordan on the course. What we do know is that Mahomes likely wants to show off his driving abilities. We got a sneak peek of those last year.
"The Match" was played in pouring rain, but the four athletes made the best of it and provided some much-needed entertainment in the process. They also helped raise $20 million for charity and it seems like a no-brainer to make this an annual event.
Sign Mahomes up for the next event. It'd make for must-see television.
