Patrick Mahomes Giving 'Virtual Commencement Address' at Texas Tech is Something Every KC School Should Emulate
Patrick Mahomes has become a hero in Kansas City after leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl title this past season. Before that, he made a name for himself at Texas Tech, pitching it all around the park in a high-octane offense.
These days, universities around the country are trying to figure out creative ways to honor graduates, and Mahomes' alma mater had the perfect idea. The former Red Raiders quarterback will give a "virtual commencement address" for this year's graduates.
Schools all over the Kansas City area and the surrounding region should be jumping at the opportunity to do something similar for graduation ceremonies that now have to be virtual. Even if Mahomes can't do them all, other Chiefs players can take part as well. There's no reason not to take Texas Tech's idea and run with it.
Perhaps Mahomes can do one giant address to a number of schools across the heartland. This just seems like the perfect plan if he is already giving an address for TTU. Kansas City loves its Chiefs, and this young man and he could give back in a big way by making the day of so many graduates in the area with even just a few minutes of his time.
