Chiefs' Quotes After Blown Lead to Titans Show They're Struggling With Adversity
By Chris Pyo

The Kansas City Chiefs have gotten used to a recent culture of excellence on the football field, especially with the emergence of Patrick Mahomes and their high-flying offense.
But after their 35-32 loss to the Tennessee Titans today, the shellshocked Chiefs didn't even know how to act in front of the media. One unnamed player was especially emotional, sitting stoically in the locker room with tears sliding down his face, attempting to discuss the loss.
One player did not move for 14 minutes, tears sliding down his cheek.

"I need to cool off," another said when approached.
"Shit, it still doesn't make sense for me," a third said.

Honestly? The second and third quotes make much more sense than the first quote, as Chiefs players were understandably upset with themselves after they blew a last-second lead to the Ryan Tannehill-led Titans. Cooling off and making sense of a loss like that is universally acceptable, especially in a sport like football where emotions run high.
But winning teams shake off losses, channel their emotions, and get better. This group seems...stunned?
“A #Chiefs team that looked as if it had put such silly errors behind them went back to playing sloppy, careless football that relies on heroics to win games instead of proper execution.” https://t.co/8qjcEgBTrH

There's nothing wrong with showing emotion. But doesn't this seem like a bit of a misplaced overreaction?
What's going to happen if the Chiefs lose a playoff game? More importantly, how can KC swiftly realign their emotions to make sure that doesn't happen? If this team is utterly taken aback by a series of mistakes snowballing in Week 10, they won't make it to the second half in New England.
