Chiefs Releasing WR Byron Pringle After Promising Preseason
By Jerry Trotta

The Kansas City Chiefs have made a surprising roster move to start Week 2 of the 2019 season.
According to a report from Yahoo! Sports' Terez Paylor, the organization plans to release sophomore wideout Byron Pringle after an encouraging training camp and preseason showing.

It's worth noting that Pringle's termination might be the product of fellow wideout/tailback De'Anthony Thomas poised to come off suspension this week. Adding the former Oregon star to the 53-man roster can be the expected corresponding move for KC.
What makes that all the more likely is the fact that Pringle was donning the No.13 jersey for the Chiefs at the start of the year, the number that Thomas has sported in each of his five seasons with the franchise.
It appears that Kansas City is prepared to completely cut ties with the former TCU standout, as Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest believes the team will not re-sign him to the practice squad if he manages to clear waivers.
The Chiefs do plan to re-sign WR Byron Pringle to the practice squad if he clears waivers, a source tells me. But the club won’t know if he clears until Wednesday afternoon.

Releasing Pringle is a genuinely stunning move considering Tyreek Hill's injury, because now Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes only have four healthy receivers at their disposal.
But when your roster flaunts as much talent and depth as the Chiefs' outfit does, somebody eventually had to go.
