Chris Davis is Suddenly Crushing it at Orioles Spring Training and Nothing Makes Sense Anymore

Chris Davis has given the Baltimore Orioles some serious buyer's remorse since signing his $161 million contract in 2016, but this spring, he's give them something else entirely. Davis has put on a Spring Training performance reminiscent the play that earned him that contract in the first place.

So far this spring, Davis has reached on every plate appearance, going 2-2 with three walks. On Tuesday, he hit a fourth-inning home run on an 0-2 fastball against the Boston Red Sox for good measure.

Davis hasn’t hit better than .221 since the 2015 campaign, and his on-base percentage hasn’t eclipsed .300 in the last two seasons. His play, compounded with his inflated salary, has made him a frequent target by fans.

But we could be in the midst of a Crash renaissance based on these early returns.

He has three years left on that contract. While the time may have passed to truly earn his money after four dismal seasons, his reputation around Baltimore could see modest boost if he can carry his momentum from this stretch to start the spring into the regular season and turn his hitting around at long last.
