Tom Brady Takes No. 12 From Chris Godwin as We All Expected After Joining Buccaneers

Tom Brady has built a brand around the No. 12 jersey he has worn throughout his career. With that in mind, keeping the number as a new member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was never really in doubt.
Chris Godwin has worn the number for the Bucs since entering the league in 2017, and he didn't signal straight away that he'd give it up for Brady. So, was there going to be immediate drama between quarterback and wide receiver? Not quite. It took a bit of time, but Godwin has officially put the 12 back in TB12.
Official word from the Buccaneers:

Tom Brady: 1⃣2⃣
Chris Godwin: 1⃣4⃣
Godwin previously said he would be willing to give up the number if Brady asked. But in the end, the 24-year-old had no choice but to give up the No. 12. Let's be honest.
So Chris Godwin offered Tom Brady the number 12 & Brady accepted. @CGtwelve_ told @Buccaneers web site that there was no transaction. CG will switch to No. 14. Nicely done by one of the best WRs in the game....??

The only disappointing thing here, perhaps, is that there was no reported deal struck for the number exchange, like a shiny new Rolex around Godwin's wrist. However, he surely knows keeping Brady happy could lead to landing a life-changing contract extension a year from now.
