Christian Yelich Writes Amazing Letter Congratulating Senior Class at Alma Mater Westlake High School
By Andrew Gullotta

Though best known for his prodigious talents on the diamond, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is not to be underestimated as a motivator. Amid these strange days of COVID-19, the superstar took it upon himself some uplifting, heartwarming words to the senior baseball players at his alma mater, Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks, California. And it's truly triumphant stuff.
Got this email today from the best player in baseball, to forward to our seniors, if you are a senior in high school or college take a minute to read. pic.twitter.com/RxamuAVU3a

"Some of you have played your last game and that's fine!! It's fine because you're going to go on to do great things in this world," he wrote, "things that have a way bigger impact that anything that can be done on a baseball field!"
Even though Yelich is surely frustrated that he and his fellow MLB brethren cannot take the field due to the global coronavirus shutdown, it was profoundly kind of him to write this letter to shout out Westlake's departing seniors and give them an emotional boost. It is not every day that a band of teenagers gets a letter straight from a former NL MVP; the gesture is just another way Yelich’s rare qualities are shining through.
“We’ve had a lot of conversations and group texts and emails to figure out how we could help the most people and have the greatest impact,” Ryan Braun said.

These inspirational words can go a long way given the extent to which lives have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. If there is one thing to learn after this experience, it's to take nothing for granted.
Hopefully, Yelich and the Brewers, as well as players at all levels of baseball, can resume play as soon as it's deemed safe to return to the diamond. In the meantime, Westlake High School can take heart in knowing that one of their superstar alums hasn't forgotten them even for a second.
