City of Oakland's Lawsuit Against Alameda County Over Sale of Coliseum to A's Has Been Dismissed

At least for now, the Athletics are on good terms with the city of Oakland.
The Oakland City Council has directed the city attorney to drop its lawsuit against the sale of RingCentral Coliseum to the Athletics organization.
The council, reportedly without the mayor's approval, had originally instructed the city to file the suit in an attempt to prevent Alameda County from selling the coliseum back to the Athletics, which also led to the possibility of the team moving to Las Vegas.
It is still unclear as to why the city filed suit in the first place. The A's plan to redevelop the area where RingCentral Coliseum and the recently emptied Oracle Arena currently reside. The organization says it will build housing, shops, and restaurants in the area and use its profits to help build a new ballpark at Howard Terminal in Oakland's Jack London Square neighborhood.
The A's have played at the coliseum since they moved to Oakland from Kansas City in 1968. The new ballpark would be their first brand-new ballpark since the Philadelphia A's first played at Shibe Park in 1909.
