Clemson QB Chase Brice Announces Intent to Transfer From School
By Will Coleman
For the second consecutive year, the backup to Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has decided to enter the transfer portal.
Last season it was former 5-star signal-caller Hunter Johnson announcing his transfer to Northwestern. This time around, it's sophomore quarterback Chase Brice who has decided to leave Pickens County in search of increased opportunity.
Brice's transfer process will be as a graduate transfer, and he has been granted immediate eligibility for next season.
In 383 snaps as a Tiger, Brice managed to record nine passing touchdowns and one on the ground in relief of Lawerence.
During its 2018 National Championship run, Clemson almost saw its would-be 29-game winning streak come crashing down against unranked Syracuse. With Lawrence out for the game with an injury, Brice stepped in graciously and navigated the Tigers through a 94-yard game-winning drive.
Brice won't have the same national exposure as he did at Clemson should he choose to transfer, but he'll certainly have a better opportunity to earn play time as a starting quarterback.
