NCAA Forced Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence and His Girlfriend to Shut Down GoFundMe for Coronavirus Victims

Even in times of dire national sorrow, the NCAA finds a way to insert itself in the conversation as the villain.
A week and a half after the NCAA Tournament was canceled out of a correct abundance of caution over the coronavirus outbreak, the No. 1 enforcer of unnecessary collegiate rules is back on the wrong side of history.
Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence and his girlfriend Marissa Mowry attempted to set up a GoFundMe to help those who've lost their livelihoods due to the coronavirus, but the NCAA deemed the page a rules violation, for whatever reason.
Lawrence and Mowry started the page on Monday, and had already amassed $2,670 for the cause. However, their page was shut down the same day, and Mowry confirmed on Instagram that the NCAA deemed this a violation, namely for using your name and likeness for crowd funding purposes.
Apparently, that far-too-rigid statute still stands for good-faith gestures made in the name of helping the less fortunate. How is there absolutely zero nuance here? Read the room. Read the country!
We have no idea why the NCAA has chosen to continue to be exactly the same while the rest of the nation's complexion changes entirely.
