Roger Goodell Discloses Potential Timeline for Reinstating Browns DE Myles Garrett
By Michael Luciano
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, who before that fateful Thursday Night Football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was known as a pretty composed guy, erupted when he used Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph's own helmet as a weapon against him, making contact with his head in the process.
Garrett was handed an indefinite suspension by the NFL, but Roger Goodell told Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot that the star pass rusher could be on the fast track to reinstatement. Goodell will meet with Garrett in the next 60 days, at which time the ban could be lifted.
Garrett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, was in the middle of following up his Pro Bowl 2018 campaign with an even better year, as he picked up 10 sacks in just 10 games of action before it all came crashing down.
What Garrett did was awful and inexcusable, but it was hardly grounds for lifetime banishment. Now, the league appears to think that he has come close to learning the full extent of his lesson.
Garrett will certainly play football again, and that chance to get back in the game could come as soon as few months from now. However, Browns fans shouldn't assume it's a lock that Garrett will be on the field in Week 1. He's got to put his best foot forward with the Commish first.
