Browns Secondary Additions Have One Clear Flaw and Cleveland Fans Should Be Scared

The Cleveland Browns wasted no time putting their league-leading cap space to use this offseason, and they continued to upgrade their roster with solid selections in last week's NFL Draft.

However, if you had to point out one flaw up and down the Browns' roster, it would be on defense -- particularly the secondary. While the group has a lot of talent, the team added a player in LSU safety Grant Delpit that doesn't exactly cure the tackling woes of cornerbacks Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams.

As good as Cleveland's secondary is in coverage, at some point, they are going to be tasked with stopping bruisers in the open field. If you ask us, that's an imperative requirement on defense. After all, look at what Derrick Henry did to the Patriots and Ravens last season on the playoff stage.

Take Denzel Wards' valiant efforts in 2019, for example. According to Pro Football Focus, the former No. 4 overall pick held opposing quarterbacks to a 44.9% completion percentage when throwing his way last season. That was the best mark of any cornerback in the league, but it didn't mask the disaster he was as a one-on-one tackler. The same can be said for Williams -- and he wasn't nearly as dominant in coverage as his teammate.

In terms of value, the Delpit pick was outstanding, but there's a reason his stock fell. Following an All-American campaign in 2018, the LSU star underwhelmed as a junior due to his tendency to miss key tackles. That flaw will be anything but hidden in Cleveland playing against Lamar Jackson, Ben Roethlisberger, and Joe Burrow a combined half-dozen times per season.

In fact, we can confidently say that it will be exposed, and Browns fans should be worried.
