Clint Frazier Not Facing Media After Awful Defensive Outing is Overshadowing Series Win Over Red Sox

The first-place New York Yankees took two out of three from the Boston Red Sox this weekend, but don't bother mentioning that to Clint Frazier. He very well may have cost the Yanks a series sweep on Sunday with a defensive performance that can only be categorized as...sloppy.

But even worse, Frazier declined to speak to the media following his nightmare of a game, which is now somehow the overarching storyline after a weekend where New York dominated Boston for the most part.

Yes, Frazier made three separate atrocious plays in the seventh inning which helped the Red Sox turn their one-run lead into a six-run lead, but the Yankees are 8.5 games up on the defending champs and sit atop the AL East. Fans should be appreciating that instead of expressing discontent with Frazier.

Then again, Frazier did act immature after the loss, setting off red flags about how he can handle the New York media. If he isn't mature enough to own up to a poor game now, how will he do it when the stakes are at their highest?

Nonetheless, that's something to worry about later, not now amidst an awesome run.

Still, it seems to be evident that Frazier's defensive confidence is completely shot, so the team has to work on improving that. Having one player's issues create a storyline around an entire team is not ideal. The Yankees and their fans should be patient here and instead let Frazier work out his problems while New York continues to enjoy winning ball games.

After all, once Aaron Judge returns, Frazier will see less of the outfield, so it's not like this is expected to be a long-term concern for the Bombers.
