Clippers Absolutely Need to Sign Reggie Jackson if He Pursues Buyout From Pistons
The Detroit Pistons made the shocking move to trade away Andre Drummond before Thursday's trade deadline, and there could be more moves to follow as the team looks to rebuild.
The next person rumored to be seeking his way out of town is Reggie Jackson, who is considering a buyout from the Pistons.
If Jackson gets bought out and hits free agency, the Clippers absolutely need to be at the forefront of his market in hopes of bringing him to Hollywood.
Jackson has seen limited action this season after dealing with a back injury. He returned near the end of January and is back to averaging over 30 minutes per game. On the year he's posted season averages of 14.1 points, 4.6 assists and 2.1 3's.
He would be a huge addition for the Clippers and could slide in as the starting point guard to allow Patrick Beverley to come off the bench, or come in and produce as a leader of the second unit.
The Pistons want to get the rebuild started now and agreeing to a buyout would allow Jackson to join a contending team and have his talents actually go toward winning.
The Clippers are still trying to catch up to the Lakers in the West, while fending off the Nuggets and Rockets. Adding Jackson to the mix would be a big boost for a team with NBA Finals aspirations.
