VIDEO: Closer Look at James Paxton's New Mustache is Absolutely Glorious
By Jackson Thompson

While a back injury means James Paxton won't be making any pitches for the New York Yankees at the start of the 2020 season, he made his presence known on Sunday in a video interview that revealed a close-up look at his new mustache. And this thing...is right up there with the greats of the game, folks.

Paxton's mustache was actually not his own idea, but rather a suggestion by his wife.
"I was shaving my beard off and just left the mustache," Paxton said. "The wife told me to try keeping it and I did." He went on to say that if he pitches well with the mustache, it will stay.
This morning, James Paxton said he could start throwing at the end of this week or the beginning of next. Said that while he feels good right now, he has to hold himself back from potentially rushing things and listen to doctors/the training staff.

Paxton's mustache now joins several other iconic mustaches throughout Yankees history. He likened his lip strap to the immortal staches of David Wells, Don Mattingly and Ron Guidry. While Paxton has a long way to go before his mustache can be remembered alongside those in the Pantheon of Yankees lore, it's a look that the fans should be sure to welcome warmly alongside Paxton, when he returns to the mound in 2020 to aid a decimated starting rotation.
