Malcolm Jenkins to Join CNN as Commentator in Move That Makes Perfect Sense
By Michael Luciano
New Orleans Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins, fresh off a very successful stint with the Philadelphia Eagles, is parlaying his willingness to speak out on the multitude of institutions in this country that need reformation into a contract with one of the leading voices in news.
Jenkins has been hired by CNN as a contributor and commentator, meaning he will offer up his thoughts on camera regarding racism, social reform and the state of the country as a whole.
We couldn't think of a current player more fit for the job than Jenkins.
While Colin Kaepernick has been the face of anti-police brutality protests across football these last few years, Jenkins that has been as active as anyone with regards to speaking out and advocating for change given his involvement with the Players Coalition and several community initiatives.
Just a few days ago, Jenkins took the NFL to task for what he felt was an inadequate response to the recent protests across the country, claiming that the league will only prove it's for real about change if Kaepernick is mentioned personally, and he is effectively absolved of any supposed wrongdoing.
On top of being an excellent leader, Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champ, Jenkins has been one of the league's most outspoken social justice advocates. Inspiring and thoughtful without being divisive, Jenkins amplifying his message to a wider audience could be one of several ways that the NFL can help serve as the catalyst for real change in this country at long last.
