VIDEO: Colin Cowherd Once Again Plays Contrarian and Defends Rob Manfred Over 2020 MLB Season
By Michael Luciano
Leave it Colin Cowherd to be one of the few talking heads to actually come out in support of Rob Manfred after the MLB commissioner expressed doubts over the possibility of a 2020 season. Cowherd claimed that the MLB has been enduring labor tensions for the last 30 years, and he accused fans attacking Manfred for his inaction of "looking to complain."
You see anyone attacking Adam Silver at the moment? Ever wonder why? It's because he actually listened to his players, acted as a mediator between them and the owners, and created a return to play plan that somewhat placates both sides. Manfred, on the other hand, has done next to nothing to help play resume.
While Cowherd should be commended for going after the owners, calling them "hedge fund guys, most of whom didn't play baseball," Manfred deserves more blame than anyone if a season doesn't happen by virtue of his status as commissioner. Yes, being a commissioner is really hard, but that doesn't excuse negligence and inadequate performance.
Cowherd's anti-owner sentiments are always welcome, but seemingly absolving the commissioner of any responsibility is a stunningly tone-deaf stance to take.
