Colin Cowherd Just Praised Baker Mayfield's Television Appearance and He Doesn't Get to Do That
By Jerry Trotta
Let's be real, Colin Cowherd established an agenda against quarterback Baker Mayfield ever since his days at Oklahoma, where, in truth, he was undisciplined.
While run-ins with the law absolutely warrant criticism, Cowherd proceeded to, and often out of the blue, dish out barbs in Baker's direction on a daily basis throughout his first two seasons in the NFL.
That is precisely why Cowherd's praise of the Browns' signal caller for his "measured" cameo on First Things First on Friday should be discarded.
That's not how this works, Colin. You can't be as diligent in identifying flaws in Mayfield, and be THIS quick to laud him for a good interview.
Let's remember that Cowherd, living up to his ever-hypocritical reputation, thoroughly lambasted the Oklahoma product at UFC 246 on Jan. 18 after the telecast failed to mention that he was in attendance.
Our skin is crawling from the sheer hypocrisy on display from Cowherd. He forever tarnished his relationship with Mayfield for consistently berating him, even when it wasn't sanctioned.
The occasional endorsement and flattery won't mitigate anything. As mind-numbing as it is, we'd rather see Cowherd stick to his shtick rather than pull a sell-out move like this.
