VIDEO: Colin Cowherd Backing the Broncos After Melvin Gordon Signing Means They're Probably Going to Stink
By Sam Dunn
The Denver Broncos have some work to do ahead of the 2020 season. They mercifully moved on from Joe Flacco at quarterback, and upgraded their backfield with the addition of now-former division rival Melvin Gordon. And when that latter bit of news was handed down, one man was more excited than most: Colin Cowherd, who said live on Fox Sports Radio that Denver will not just be football's most improved team, but that they're officially "back."
Well, knowing Colin, this sudden coronation is all the evidence we need to know that the Broncos will be a disappointing bunch in 2020. We're calling 8-8 their best-case scenario.
Yes, Philip Lindsay and Melvin Gordon sharing the same backfield presents some enticing possibilities on paper, but paying Gordon isn't necessarily a smart offseason decision, especially given that the NFL salary cap didn't even jump up to the $200 million figure this year that most prognosticators anticipated.
Colin is unphased about this. Sure, why let cold, hard facts get in the way of a narrative meant to vindicate one of your previously stated positions?
The Broncos are full steam ahead with Drew Lock at quarterback. Is that meant to instill confidence, too? There are questions marks all around for this team; that isn't automatically a bad thing, but beware of anyone who's so unusually bullish about this team.
Not to name names or anything.
