Colin Cowherd's Pre-Draft Cold Take on Kevin Durant is Utterly Embarrassing
Colin Cowherd has been sharing polarizing opinions for decades, and it is easy to forget some of his craziest takes when a new one seems to come out of his mouth every single day. Today is the anniversary of one of the worst takes he has ever produced, and it has to do with a young Kevin Durant.
The scrawny shooter out of Texas was unable to bench press 185 pounds in a pre-draft workout back in the day, and Cowherd saw that as enough evidence as to why Greg Oden should be drafted No. 1 overall in 2007. He went off about it, in fact.
Going Oden over Durant made some sense at the time, but obviously things didn't work out. It is still hard to believe the Portland Trail Blazers would look at the bench press to make such a big decision.
Cowherd just can't help himself from poking fun at Durant in the vintage clip, and even says Danica Patrick can bench more than the sharpshooter. He eventually came around on Durant once it was clear he was one of the best players in the game, however.
Social media allows these all-time bad takes to stick around, and Cowherd should have to answer for this one. This just goes to show that what he is doing on the air now is the same thing he has been doing his whole career. At least he provides some entertainment amid all the crazy things he says.
