Colin Kaepernick to Hold Private Workout in Atlanta for All Interested NFL Teams
By Mark Powell

After years of waiting, Colin Kaepernick may finally have his opportunity.
Any casual NFL fan knows Kap's story by now. The former 49er was essentially blackballed by the league due to his decision to silently protest during the playing of the National Anthem before games in 2016. Since then, Kaepernick has struggled to find even a single opportunity in the league, and even sued the NFL for allegedly colluding against him.
With that suit now resolved, Kaepernick is free to sign with any NFL team which opts to open their doors to a controversial figure. And on Saturday, the city of Atlanta will play host to a private workout for Kaepernick to showcase his talents to any team willing to attend.
NFL clubs were informed today that a private workout will be held for Colin Kaepernick on Saturday in Atlanta. Session will include on-field work and an interview. All clubs are invited to attend, and video of both the workout and interview will be made available to clubs.

One look at most NFL depth charts provides all the proof needed to see Kaepernick as a capable option -- at the very least, as a backup -- for a significant number of teams.
Per Ian Rapoport, several teams have inquired about Kap, but have reservations about his on-field ability due to his time away from the gridiron. He last appeared in 2016, logging 12 games and seven starts for San Francisco.
Several clubs inquired as to Kaepernick’s football readiness and both him and his reps have frequently expressed his desire for him to return to the league. The NFL has arranged this opportunity for him to work out, and for all clubs to have the opportunity to evaluate him https://t.co/iihhbbxIAO

A private, league-wide workout allows teams to scout Kaepernick under the radar, rather than unintentionally leaking to the media that they're considering signing the 32-year-old.
Whether that assurance will be enough for a franchise to actually pull the trigger remains to be seen. But for now, it's an intriguing, encouraging development for the former NFC champion.
