College Football Playoff Rankings After Week 12 Feature No Changes to Top 7 Teams
By Scott Rogust
If you were banking on some serious changes in the weekly College Football Playoff rankings, we've got some bad news for you.
The CFP rankings following Week 12 were revealed on Tuesday night, and the top seven teams from last week's list maintained their spots.
LSU, Ohio State, and Clemson had relatively easy victories this past weekend over Ole Miss, Rutgers, and Wake Forest respectively. Georgia, on the other hand, maintained the coveted No. 4 spot after narrowly defeating the Auburn Tigers 21-14.
Penn State jumped back in front of Minnesota, claiming the No. 8 spot while the Golden Gophers dropped to No. 10.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma only moved up one spot to No. 9, despite taking down a previously undefeated Baylor team in dramatic comeback fashion.
Another notable change was USC entering the Top 25, which gives Oregon another win over a ranked team, and makes Utah's loss look a bit less bad. That could be a deciding factor for the final playoff spot when things are said and done.
Expect plenty of fluctuation in the rankings next week, as Ohio State faces Penn State in Big Ten action this Saturday, a game that implications on virtually everyone vying for a playoff spot.
