After yet another wild week of college football that featured no shortage of upsets, the playoff picture is finally starting to come into view.

And with the first College Football Playoff rankings set to come out in just over a week, now is as good of a time as any to take a look at where the top teams of 2019 stand thus far.

College Football Playoff Rankings Predictions

No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 LSU both took care of business over the weekend, though the Tigers overcame a significantly bigger challenge by topping No. 9 Auburn 23-20 in a hard-fought contest. The two of them truly stand out as the top teams in the country this season, at this point.

The No.3 Ohio State Buckeyes also had quite an impressive win, as they topped a stout defensive Wisconsin team in convincing fashion. Justin Fields and Co. are slowly but surely proving that they have what it takes to hang with the toughest opponents out there.

To round out the top four, Clemson, like the competitors ahead of them, also managed to move to an undefeated 8-0 on the year thanks to a brutal 59-7 drubbing over unranked Boston College. They haven't had the toughest opponents this year, but they've certainly handled the opponents they've needed to, and should slot into the first field, once released.

As for the teams on the outside looking in, the Oklahoma Sooners' playoff chances took a huge blow following their 48-41 loss at the hands of Kansas State. Meanwhile, Penn State, now 8-0 on the year, is making a run at a spot, and could threaten if the above teams falter (especially following the LSU-Alabama battle a few weeks ahead of us), likely gaining precedence over a one-loss Pac-12 champion.

It's shaping up to be a tight race down the stretch for all of these teams, and it seems like there's going to be some drama in the selection process this year if these teams keep playing quality football.
