The improperly-distributed wages of baseball's minor league players have created a hotly-contested debate for a long time.

Their salaries are extraordinarily low, especially when you consider how much time and dedication they have to put into the game of baseball to perfect their craft. Current Astros pitcher and former minor leaguer Collin McHugh experienced the poverty first-hand, and his wife Ashley posted a photo showing just how low minor league pay is, and how far they've come.

A yearly takeaway of $17,316 is hardly enough for anyone to survive, especially someone who is dedicating their time to play one of the richest sports in the world, worn out from long-range travel. This salary is after working two jobs, which only further shows how infuriating the MLB pay system is.

It has to be frustrating for the players and their families to see how much money circulates through the game of baseball and how much they receive in return for their play. It is no wonder way some minor leaguers just walk away from baseball, and with salaries this low, you could expect more players to do the same, even though the McHughs are a phenomenal example of how far dedication can get you.
