Colts Are Signing UDFA Rodrigo Blankenship and Indy Fans Will Love Their New Goggled Cult Hero

Players who did not get drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft may be disappointed, but plenty will get picked up as undrafted free agents throughout the weekend.
One cult hero who did not get selected is Georgia kicker Rodrigo Blankenship. He seemed to be with the Bulldogs forever and was the 2019 Lou Groza Award winner. He is now reportedly getting a shot in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts.

This is an intriguing signing for a team that has had one kicker since 2006. 47-year-old Adam Vinatieri had not made a decision about his future and the signing of Blankenship shows the Colts want to have a plan in place in case the veteran decides to retire.

Colts fans have been lucky to not have to deal with kicker-related drama for so long. Blankenship should be loved by fans in Indy after a college career in which he went 200/200 on extra points and 80/97 on field goals over four seasons.
He has nailed important kicks on a big stage in the SEC and the veteran college player is a perfect replacement for one of the best kickers in NFL history. Fans in Indy may even don goggles if the rookie can hit a few clutch kicks to win over their hearts.
