VIDEO: Everyone Needs to Hear Colts GM Chris Ballard's Statement on Black Lives Matter
By Michael Luciano
Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Ballard released a powerful statement after a week of protests following the death of George Floyd. His soliloquy was a mixture of anger and remorse. He was frustrated with White America's inability to simply accept the phrase "black lives matter" despite how that should be common sense, but he was also upset with himself, as he claims that he was often unaware of exactly how much of an issue racial inequality in America was and is currently.
Ballard is not the only member of the organization to make a very passionate speech calling for racial unity and justice after the deaths of Floyd and countless others. Head coach Frank Reich opened a conference call a few days ago with an equally progressive statement.
Colts backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett claimed that "you're either part of the solution or part of the problem" in a team meeting. While that is certainly a strong declaration, the entire Colts organization seems to be on the same page.
Ballard clearly took a long, hard look inside himself before his damning self-assessment. Luckily, he came to terms with the fact he had turned a blind eye to injustice in the past, and seems committed to righting that wrong.
