Colts Claim Ex-Texans RB D'Onta Foreman
By Sean Facey
It didn't take D'Onta Foreman very long to find a new home in the NFL.
After his unceremonious departure from the Houston Texans, the Indianapolis Colts have claimed the 23-year-old running back off of waivers.
It's a move that will at the very least give the Colts some much-needed depth at the running back position. Outside of Marlon Mack, they don't have many guys that inspire confidence heading into 2019, especially following Spencer Ware's injury.
Foreman, a third-round draft pick of the Texans back in 2017, spent his first two years with Houston, but injuries and a lack of punctuality limited him to just 326 yards on 85 carries in 12 games, and ultimately led to the team waiving him.
His production in the NFL has been a far cry from the success he had in college, where he produced a 2,000-yard season for the Texas Longhorns in his junior year. Now, though, he'll have a chance to live up the high expectations that accompanied him out of college.
He's got plenty of potential, but just hasn't reached it in the NFL as of yet. If he can get healthy and stay focused, he could turn out to be one of the biggest steals of the NFL offseason.
