Athletes experiencing calf strains are likely to be treated with immense caution, especially after Kevin Durant's situation in Golden State. After suffering a calf strain, Durant came back during the NBA Finals and ruptured his achilles tendon on the same leg.
Luck was a Pro Bowl selection last year and was one touchdown shy of tying his career-high season total with 39 touchdowns. Indianapolis finished with a 10-6 record and ended up losing to the No.1-seeded Chiefs in the AFC Divisional playoffs.
Frank Reich: Andrew Luck missing practice today was based on his feedback regarding the calf; it’s likely he’ll miss the next two practices and then the team will reassess. Reich stresses they still have a lot of time.

Head coach Frank Reich expressed optimism that if the game against the Bills was a regular season game rather than a preseason contest, Luck would be able to play. But for now, the Colts are holding Luck out and not taking any risks.
