Colts Just Worked Out a Ton of Kickers Despite Adam Vinatieri's Vow to Keep Playing
By Chris Pyo

Adam Vinatieri is really, really old. That's a fact.
He also isn't an elite kicker anymore for the Indianapolis Colts, as his past two games have indicated. The 46-year-old future Hall of Famer has missed two of his three field goal attempts and three of his five extra point attempts so far on the year. However, despite a cryptic message from the man after Week 2, he's vowed to keep on trucking along as Indy's No. 1 kicker, and the team aannounced that he would serve as their starter in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons.
They couldn't help but bring in a little competition for Vinatieri for the time being, however.

It was reported that after basically convincing Vinatieri to stave off retirement for a couple of more games, the Colts brought in six -- yes, six -- different kickers to compete with the veteran.
Some of the kickers reportedly included Younghoe Koo, Elliot Fry and infamous double-doink artist Cody Parkey.
That definitely doesn't bode well for Vinatieri, who might find his 24-year career finally in jeopardy. If this truly is the end for Vinatieri, what a career he's had. He's won four Super Bowls and been named a First Team All-Pro three times.
From yesterday’s show: @BillSimmons on the final chapter of Adam Vinatieri’s career: “The thing is nobody’s gonna remember how it ends. Like, you look at Shaq the last couple of years. He’s just bouncing around like an actor in bad movies. But everybody remembers 2001 Shaq.” pic.twitter.com/7lC2n1IVuT

Hey, at least Bill Simmons is looking on the bright side of things. 2001 Vinatieri was truly one ice-cold kicker for the Pats, wasn't he?
