Colts Officially Place Andrew Luck on Reserve/Retired List
By Sean Facey
Well, it's official.
After a shocking and heartbreaking announcement from the quarterback himself on Saturday, the Indianapolis Colts have officially placed Andrew Luck on the reserve/retired list.
It was expected news (at least, it was after late Saturday night), but that doesn't make it any less jarring.
The 29-year-old gunslinger had dealt with more than his fair share of injuries during his career, and they ultimately forced him out of the game. It's just incredibly tough to swallow considering the circumstances.
This is a young, promising quarterback entering his prime. He finally had an offensive line to protect him and strong receivers to throw to. He pieced together a 4,593-yard season under Frank Reich last year and seemed primed to continue into the 2019 season.
But of course, every player has their physical limit, and Luck reached his. Every time it felt like he was close to moving on from one injury, another one cropped up. However envious his situation with the Colts might have seemed heading into this season, it's hard to blame him for calling it quits.
Now his time with the team is consigned to the annals of history. Fans everywhere will be left with his seven-year stretch in the NFL to reflect on what he was and what he could have been.
