Colts WR Daurice Fountain Apparently Suffered a Devastating Injury in Practice
By Michael Luciano

A promising young receiver on the roster bubble suffered what could be a career-threatening injury at practice.
Indianapolis Colts wideout Daurice Fountain, who was inactive most of his rookie season in 2018, went to the ground audibly screaming in agony at Colts practice. Per Ian Rapoport, Fountain suffered a dislocated and fractured ankle and was carted off the field.
#Colts WR Reece Fountain, who has recently impressed but was carted off today, suffered a dislocated and fractured ankle, source said. He’ll likely have surgery right away. A bad situation for a good, young player.

The injury was said to be so bad that his teammates were visually shaken up, gathering around the ailing wideout to take a knee and say a prayer.

Cart coming out for Fountain. Players from both teams down taking a knee.
Tons of medical personnel around Fountain.
A former FCS standout at Northern Iowa, Fountain wowed Draft Twitter and scouts alike with his performance at the Shrine Game, in which he was named MVP. Despite not receiving an NFL Combine invite, the Colts used a fifth round pick, No. 159 overall, on Fountain in the 2018 NFL Draft.
This turn of events would have been devastating under any set of circumstances, but it's even worse when it comes after Fountain was asserting his dominance with a terrific string of practices.

Frank Reich, Andrew Luck, and the Colts had big things lined up for Fountain this season, but it appears as if it will be extremely unlikely for the former UNI star to see the field this season.
