Chicago baseball fans might have some difficulty with watching Cubs games in 2020 and beyond, on account of who is now in charge of distribution.

Charter Communications, which contains Sinclair Broadcast Group, purchased the exclusive distribution rights for Marquee Sports Network, which will be the only place to watch local Chicago Cubs baseball games starting in 2020.

Only one problem: This same strategy, involving the same parties, hasn't gone so well in Los Angeles.

This company gained plenty of negative notoriety when they failed to convince LA TV providers to carry SportsNet LA, a team-owned network that serves as the exclusive home for Los Angeles Dodgers baseball.

It's basically the equivalent of what would happen if YES, the home for New York Yankees baseball, was overseen by people who failed at one of the core tenets of their job.

We could devote an entire website just towards picking out the faults in Sinclair's behavior and business practices, so this isn't exactly the type of name Cubs fans probably wanted to see in charge of piping Cubs baseball into their house.

While that partnership was already very public knowledge, the fact that distribution is now being handled in the same fashion as this failed Los Angeles model has to be disturbing for Cubs fans. What used to be among the easiest teams to watch in America thanks to WGN may now be a chore to find.
