Complete Timeline of Antonio Brown's Brief But Dramatic Tenure With the Raiders
By Sean Facey

Antonio Brown's brief but memorable tenure with the Oakland Raiders came to a swift end on Saturday after the organization granted his request and released him. It put an end to a head-scratching, drama-filled relationship that in hindsight was practically doomed from the start.
But now that the dust has settled and the two parties are going their separate ways, let's take a look back at how they came together and what necessitated their unceremonious divorce.
The Antonio Brown era kicked off in earnest in Oakland when he was introduced in a press conference in March following the Raiders' acquisition of him from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

At the time, the Steelers had dealt him for third- and fifth-round draft picks, considered by many to be a massively underwhelming return.
For the first few months, it was par for the course. Brown skipped OTAs in May, though that wasn't too unexpected. However, when training camp rolled around, things started to get dicey. He showed up on July 25 with severe frostbite on his feet, the result of a cryotherapy session gone wrong. Five days later, he left training camp to seek treatment for his injured feet.

Of course when he left, Brown was also battling the NFL for the right to wear his preferred helmet. This wound up being the first of his two grievances, both of which he lost. His absence from practice, though, precipitated the means for the team to fine him $40,000.

When he received a letter detailing the fine from general manager Mike Mayock, Brown took to Instagram on Sept. 4, calling the organization out for hitting him with the deduction. The very next day, reports came out that the Raiders planned to suspend Brown after he got into a vulgar exchange with Mayock in which he called him "a cracker."
The day after that, Oakland fined him an additional $215,073.53, thus voiding the guaranteed money in his contract on the grounds of conduct detrimental. Incensed by the move, Brown took to social media to call out the Raiders and ask for his release, and on Saturday, he got his wish.
The Raiders have released Antonio Brown. The dude had $30 million guaranteed if he would have just shut up and played football. He has cost himself tens of millions of dollars and maybe his entire career.

It was an absolute roller coaster that crashed and burned in stunning fashion. Things spiraled way out of control in the final weeks of his tenure with the team, and ultimately, it was a confluence of money issues and clashing personalities that led to his untimely demise. And of course, here we are, with Brown signing a deal with the Patriots just hours after teams were allowed to speak with him at 4 p.m.
