Contradictory Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant Comments Prove They Were Made to Be Teammates
The writing appeared to be on the wall this summer that Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant wanted to team up, but the question remained where they would play.
We were given our answer Sunday night when it was announced Irving and Durant were signing with the Brooklyn Nets. And it appears the duo was a match made in heaven all along.
Its hard to forget Irving's NSFW switch-up, but Durant planning to buy a home in San Francisco is a new development for most NBA fans. Both flip-flopping on their free agency decisions is ironic given the similar relationships both had with their former teams.
Its widely reported the two are close friends, so the signings aren't too surprising. The interesting part of their decision is the report that the two took a discount to bring mutual friend DeAndre Jordan to Brooklyn as well.
Before the two best friends can take the court together, they'll have to wait a year as Durant rehabs his torn Achilles tendon he suffered in the NBA Finals.
Without Durant, the Nets still expect to be competitive with Irving leading the charge. The roster is deep, and the Nets should be a top team in the East both with and without Durant, unless Irving tanks the team chemistry they've built in Brooklyn.
